When people compare delay sprays, the conversation is almost always about how long they help you last.

But after trying quite a few products, I realized another factor matters just as much:

How does your partner experience it?

Things like transfer, smell, residue, and whether everything still feels natural can have a surprisingly big impact.

Promescent is probably one of the better-designed lidocaine sprays, but it's still a traditional anesthetic product. If I followed the instructions carefully and allowed enough time before sex, partner transfer wasn't really an issue. However, compared with the herbal products, I felt like I had to pay much closer attention to timing.

• Dries fairly well.
• Low transfer risk when used correctly.

Cons

• Timing matters much more.
• Slight medicinal smell.
• Stronger numbing can sometimes make the experience feel a little less natural.

5. Trojan

Trojan wasn't a bad product, but it finished last because it didn't particularly excel in partner comfort. The spray felt wetter during application, and I found myself being more careful about waiting long enough before any contact. Nothing terrible, just less seamless than the others.

• Unlikely to cause heavy numbness.
• Easy for beginners to use.

Cons

• Can leave a little more moisture before drying.
• Slight medicinal scent.
• Didn't feel quite as natural overall compared with the products ranked above it.

Final Thoughts

One thing I've learned is that the best delay spray isn't always the one with the strongest effect.

If you're constantly worrying about residue, smell, or whether your partner is going to notice something feels different, it can become another source of stress.

Personally, I've ended up preferring products that blend into the experience without drawing attention to themselves. Even if they're a little milder, that trade-off has been worth it for me.
